Save slots and one cat per Clan
Screen Rant's launch review notes that the game has many save slots. That lets you create one cat for each of the four Clans, ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan and WindClan, and follow each Clan's campaign without overwriting another. The review does not give an exact slot count.
Use the slots on purpose. Keep your main cat in one slot and copy your progress to a second slot before big story moments or chase sequences. If something breaks, you can go back to the backup instead of restarting the Clan campaign.
Why backup saves matter at launch
Launch reviews report bugs that can block progress. GamingTrend says chase sequences sometimes forced resets because fleeing cats got stuck in the geography, and that the game crashed several times. Movies Games and Tech describes a cat stuck on an obstacle that halted progress.
We have not confirmed how often the game autosaves, so do not rely on it alone. Save manually whenever the menu allows it, especially after long quests. If a cat gets stuck, reload your latest save or your backup slot.

- Keep a backup slot for your main cat.
- If a cat gets stuck, reload instead of waiting.
- Watch for patch notes that fix stuck bugs.
Cloud saves on each platform
Each store lists its own cloud save feature. Steam lists Steam Cloud, the Xbox store lists Xbox cloud saves, and Nintendo lists Save Data Cloud for Switch, which needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership. We did not verify PS5 cloud saves; PlayStation Plus normally covers them.
Cloud saves only work inside one platform family. No cross-save between Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo has been confirmed. If you start on one system, plan to finish there.
