The progression systems we know about
Several systems grow your cat over time. Your character level, your training, your Clan favor and your learned moves are all mentioned in official sources. They are related, but they are not one shared currency. Each one may unlock different things.
The table below separates them by what each one does according to the sources. Treat it as an overview, not a leveling route. Exact numbers for each system are still unknown. We will fill them in after testing.
| System | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| Level | Affects your base stats (developer) |
| Training | Affects your base stats (developer) |
| Clan | Your Clan choice affects base stats (developer) |
| Quests | Completing quests earns Clan favor (stores) |
| Combat | Strengthens your cat (stores) |
| Moves | Choices influence which moves you learn (developer) |
Level, training and Clan
In the IGN interview, the developer names three factors behind your base stats: Clan, level and training. That means leveling up is only one part of getting stronger. Training also matters. Your Clan choice sets part of your starting point.
The publisher describes training and rank progression in broad terms. Your journey runs from apprentice to warrior. Exact level-up thresholds were not explained. Rank requirements were not published either.
Quests and Clan favor
The official description connects completing quests with earning favor from your Clan. Favor is a separate idea from experience points. We do not know whether quests also give XP, or how much. That will need testing.
Because favor and level are different, do not assume one can replace the other. Rank, favor and level may each unlock different things. We will clarify this once tested. Our quests page explains how quests work.
Combat and learned moves
Combat is described as a way to strengthen your cat. There are 75 unlockable moves, and the developer says your choices influence which ones you acquire. No talent tree has been published. Your move set will reflect the decisions you make.
Learning new moves widens your options in turn-based battles. Moves also change your combat stance. Battles allow up to three cats per side, so more options help in larger fights. Our combat guide explains how stances work.
Activities that may help you grow
The official descriptions list hunting, exploration, quests, crafting, training and battles as core activities. Each is part of daily Clan life in the Lake Territories. Which ones give the most progress has not been measured. That is exactly what a leveling guide needs to answer.
Defender, the survival challenge, and Skirmish, the asynchronous competition, also involve combat. Whether they grant progression to your story cat was not confirmed. We will test each mode separately. Results will be added to this page.
What is not known yet
No level cap was verified. We also found no confirmed daily training limit, XP multiplier or reward-stacking trick. Any guide claiming exact XP values before launch is not backed by official sources. Treat such claims with caution.
Claims about reaching a specific level by a certain point are not verified either. We excluded such claims from our research. Precise numbers will need real gameplay measurements. We would rather show no number than a wrong one.
How we will test leveling
After launch, we plan to record your level and XP before and after each activity. We will compare quests, battles, hunting and training. We will also note how long each activity takes and whether it can be repeated. That shows which activities are most efficient.
Each test will record the game version, because patches can change rewards. Only then will we publish a fastest-leveling guide. Until then, this page stays a clearly marked overview. The list below shows what we will measure.
- Level and XP before and after each activity
- Time spent on the activity
- Whether the activity can be repeated
- Game version and platform
Practical advice for now
Play the story, take on quests and keep training, since all of these are named as part of progression. Fight battles to strengthen your cat and unlock new moves. Make choices that fit the cat you want to become. These steps follow the official descriptions.
Check our quests page for how Clan favor works. Read the combat guide to understand stances and moves. We will update this page with tested leveling data after October 23, 2026. Bookmark it if you want the fastest route once it is known.
From apprentice to warrior
The developer describes your journey as moving from apprentice to warrior. The publisher talks about rank progression in broad terms. Rank may therefore be separate from your character level. The sources do not say exactly how rank is earned.
A playable Medicine Cat profession is not offered, according to the developer. Your progression follows the warrior's path. Training is named as one of the factors in your base stats. That makes training part of both rank and strength.
Your Clan's role in progression
Your Clan choice affects your base stats, according to the developer. Each Clan also has its own campaign, so the quests you take on differ. Clan favor is earned by completing quests. Your Clan is involved in progression from start to finish.
No Clan is confirmed to level faster than another. Without published numbers, the choice is about story and setting. Our best Clan page explains why no ranking exists. We will compare Clans after testing.
