The six confirmed locations
Steam lists the four Clan territories and the two sacred destinations, and Nintendo's listing matches. The publisher describes the same territories and landmarks on its official page. Each Clan territory has its own type of terrain. The PlayStation Store corroborates the same names and descriptions.
The table below uses the official terrain descriptions. It does not include borders, coordinates or collectibles, which were not verified. Use it as a directory of where the game takes place. We will expand it with tested details after launch.
| Location | Type | Official description |
|---|---|---|
| ThunderClan territory | Clan territory | Dense forest |
| RiverClan territory | Clan territory | Marshland |
| ShadowClan territory | Clan territory | Pine swamps |
| WindClan territory | Clan territory | Open moors |
| The Moonpool | Sacred destination | Sacred landmark |
| The Island | Sacred destination | Sacred landmark |
The four Clan territories
ThunderClan's home is dense forest, while RiverClan lives in marshland. ShadowClan's territory is made of pine swamps, and WindClan roams open moors. These are the settings for the four separate Clan campaigns. Each landscape gives its Clan a distinct identity.
The terrain descriptions tell you what each place looks and feels like. They do not prove movement bonuses or Clan-specific abilities tied to the land. We will add tested details after launch. Until then, treat terrain as setting rather than mechanics.
The Moonpool and the Island
The Moonpool and the Island are described as sacred destinations. They are locations, not extra playable Clans. The publisher lists them alongside the four territories. Together the six make up the confirmed map.
The game also connects StarClan with spiritual guidance and ancestor attacks in combat. That does not make StarClan a selectable campaign. The playable campaigns remain the four Clans. What you do at each sacred site has not been detailed in the sources we checked.
How exploration works
Exploration includes scent tracking, climbing and environmental puzzles. You also hunt for prey as you move through the territories. Quests and crafting are listed alongside exploration as core activities. These systems give you reasons to move around the map.
These activities come from the official feature descriptions. We have not measured how large each area is or how long it takes to cross. That information needs actual gameplay. We will add it once we have played.
Who you meet on the map
The territories are home to rival cats from other Clans. You will also face predators, with foxes, badgers and dogs named as examples. Battles against them are turn-based, with up to three cats per side. Where each enemy appears was not specified.
The game also advertises generated characters, quests and stories. That means encounters may vary between runs. A fixed enemy map would not fit every playthrough. We will describe encounter patterns after testing.
What is not verified
Exact borders between territories have not been confirmed. Collectible locations, fast-travel rules, locked passages and shortest routes are also unknown. We do not publish guesses about any of them. Fan-made maps posted before launch are not official.
Whether the map is one seamless open world was not established either. A store description listing locations does not prove how they connect. We will update this page with tested navigation after launch. Any route we publish will note the game version.
Do not use a book map
The Lake Territories in this game are not the old forest from the first books. Maps of the original forest territories or landmarks like Fourtrees do not describe this game. Use only the locations confirmed for Clans of the Forest. Book maps can be fun background, but they are not guides.
Maps from Roblox games or other fan projects are not reliable either. Each game builds its own world. Our map page will only show what the game itself confirms. That keeps directions accurate for players.
Choosing where to start
Your starting territory depends on the Clan you choose. Pick the landscape you enjoy most, whether forest, marsh, pine swamp or moor. Each Clan's campaign has its own story in its home territory. You can visit the other campaigns later.
If you want help deciding, see our page on all four Clans. It compares the official descriptions without inventing stat bonuses. The ThunderClan guide covers the forest Clan in more detail. The beginner guide explains your first steps.
Territory and Clan identity
Each Clan's campaign is shaped by its own culture and conflicts, and its territory is part of that identity. The forest, marsh, pine swamp and moor give each story a different atmosphere. That is one reason players choose a Clan by setting. The developer confirms that each Clan has its own journey.
Terrain descriptions are setting details rather than published mechanics. No movement bonuses, hunting differences or Clan abilities tied to terrain were confirmed. Marketing words describing the Clans are not stat values either. We will report any terrain effects we find after testing.
Map details we will add after launch
Once we have played, we will expand this page with tested map information. Every detail will be checked in game and dated with the version we used. We will keep book lore and fan maps out of it. The list below shows what we plan to cover.
- Borders and connections between territories
- Where each sacred destination fits into the story
- Fast travel, if the game has it
- Locked areas and how they open
- Hunting and exploration spots worth knowing
